Apple Flognarde

It's the time of year when we get our annual lot of fresh apples and we try to find all sorts of ways to eat them. This year I found this recipe for Flognarde aux Pommes from Chicho's Kitchen and we fell in love with it. 

Apple Flognarde

3 Apples
3 Large Eggs
1 1/2 cups Milk
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 cup + 1 Tbsp. Flour
2 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Peel and core the apples, then cut into chunks.

Grease the tart tins (or baking dish) with butter and sprinkle some flour and place on a baking sheet. Put the apple chunks in tins or baking dish.

Gently heat the milk until warm. In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs until blended and foamy.  Add sugar, flour, and oil, and whisk until smooth.  Gradually whisk in the warm milk. 

Using a ladle, carefully pour the liquid batter over the apple chunks, filling up to the rim. Bake for 30-45 minutes, until the flognarde is puffed and golden.

It makes a perfect lazy Saturday morning breakfast. :)

  2. I have heard about this dish for the first time ever in my life. APPLE FLOGNARDE looks yummy though.Thinking to make this with my stocked apples.��
